I was actually surprised myself that there are quite a lot of foreign celebrities who are interested in Russian language and Russian culture. These celebrities have different reasons for knowing Russian. Some of them have Russian ancestors or were born in Russian-speaking families. Others learned Russian at school or university. There are also several celebrities who were genuinely interested in Russian culture and decided to learn Russian language.
